This weekend, the Century Center in Bend is transforming into a little slice of New Orleans with the Volcanic Funk Fest, which I previewed in this week's issue.

The festival, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, features some big names in the funk world, including Big Sam's Funky Nation, Orgone, Cast of Clowns and plenty others. Also, hit this link to hear the funk-tastic radio spot for the event. Pretty funny.

Tickets are still on sale, but we're giving away a pair of passes to the festival this week. All you have to do is go to our Facebook page, like the hell out of us (or just like us) and then comment on the posting about this blog.

Winners will be notified on Friday at noon via direct message on Facebook. If you don't plan on checking to see if you won on Friday, please don't enter!

Yeah, it’s last minute, but if you want to see one of weirdest, coolest, most Oregon-ish thing the summer has to offer, you should enter to win two VIP tickets to the Oregon Country Fair. The cultural celebration of arts, music, food and general hippie-ness is now in its 42nd year and begins today in Veneta (outside of Eugene) and continues through Sunday. The tickets are good for any one day of the festival.

If you would like to enter to win the tickets, visit our Facebook Page, like us and then comment on the post about this contest.

We’ll be drawing a winner in only a few hours – 3pm to be exact. So get your entry in. We’ll be notifying winners via Facebook direct message. So if you enter to win, remember to check your account at about 3:15.

A couple weeks ago in the print edition, we mentioned a zany new race coming to Bend called the Oyster Off Road Adventure Race, and now the event is less than a week away. Saturday's race looks like it will have a little bit of everything and for everyone from intense extreme athletes to the more laid-back beer drinkers among us.

You can register right here.

The Oyster Race includes three different courses you can choose from, but the organizers behind the race aren't divulging much -- if anything -- about these courses. But they did give us some $100 Merrell gift certificates to give to a couple of our lucky readers.

All you have to do is head over to our Facebook page, like us and then like or comment on the post about the contest. We'll enter you into the drawing and notify winners on Friday afternoon.

Still wondering what exactly an Oyster Race is? Take a look at this video.

Tomorrow, Rise Up International is celebrating the longest spring ever with their Spring Jamboree concert at the Century Center. And there are some tickets to be won!

The outdoor show -- on the Century Center's spacious outdoor stage -- kicks off at 4pm and goes into the night. The Autonomics, the powerhouse trio that left Bend and are now playing in Portland, are celebrating the release of their impressive new EP, Hot Doom, which you can sample below. They hit the stage at 8pm tomorrow.

Headlining the night is Larry and His Flask in their only local show of the summer before they head out on the Warped tour. They'll be playing around 9pm.

Here's the rest of the lineup: Avery James, The Hillandales, Capture The Flag and Third Seven.

To enter your name into the drawing for the tickets...just e-mail [email protected] and tell them what you're most excited about for tomorrow's show. They'll draw names and notify the winners.

On Thursday evening, the friendly and gigantically tall redhead, Brett Dennen is making a return appearance to the Athletic Club of Bend along with fabulous L.A. indie-folk rockers Dawes. And we've got free tickets to give away, y'all!

One time I interviewed Brett Dennen and found him to be one of the most pleasant individuals I've ever spoken to. We talked mostly about old-school Nintendo games, but also hit on plenty of his music. Now, he's got a new album, Loverboy, which includes the hit single "Sydney (I'll Come Running)" and this record is really damn awesome.

Also on the bill is Dawes, who played at the Silver Moon recently, and have an excellent folk-meets-indie-rock feel to them. Make sure you get there early because this band is just as much of a draw as the headliner (not to knock Mr. Dennen).

If you'd like to win tickets you need to go over to our Facebook page and "like" us. Then, just like or comment on the post about the giveaway. Winners will be notified by direct message on Tuesday afternoon.

If you haven't picked up a copy of this week's print edition of the Source, would recommend doing so, because you could win some tickets to the upcoming Decemberists or Death Cab for Cutie shows.

All you have to do is scour the paper for a hidden lyrics to each of these bands. Once you find them, listen to 92/9FM tomorrow morning and call in, giving the lyrics you found in the paper for a chance to win a pair of tickets to one of these shows -- both of which feature incredible opening acts.

I can't tell you where exactly you'll find the lyrics, so you'll have to just read the whole paper, I guess. Enjoy!
