Vegan Hate Crimes?

As I drove down Galveston this morning I saw that for a third time the sign of new small business, Primal Cuts, had been vandalized.

While talking to the owner after the first time, he mentioned that it seemed pretty obvious that a large rock had been thrown through the sign. All this really disgusts me!  The only way I can comprehend what might be going on is that someone does not like meat eaters, but to cause big expense to a man who is just trying to make a living like the rest of us is a disgrace and embarrassment.

I don't want to be someone who complains without offering a solution, so here's a few things I came up with: 1) Go into the store and show moral support to the owner, maybe even like them on Facebook (They support community events, too). 2) Patronize the store (the quality there is excellent!).

Opening a new business is hard enough with out this discouragement.  Let’s show our small businesses support and counteract someone else's ignorance.

The Other Half of the Yoga Equation

The Source Issue 45 (Nov. 10) contained wonderful information about the forms of yoga offered in our vicinity. Most of the information covered pertained to the socially enjoyable forms of yoga enjoyed by the folks who use yoga mats and bendy posturing as they concentrate on improving their blissful breathing techniques. These physical forms of yoga are the beautiful compliments to the mental, mindful and meditative forms of yoga that balance the larger yoga (yogic) equation.

Yoga is basically a non-denominational practice aimed at balancing the physical (body) existence with the meta-physical (mind) reality. The ensuing mind-body balance creates the union required for an increased “understanding” (consciousness) of the “living experience.”

Walden’s Corporate Servitude

In the time-honored American tradition of peaceful civil disobedience, I am proud to be one of eight Central Oregon citizens arrested on December 5 in Congressman Greg Walden’s Bend office.

At our January 26 trial we plan to present a compelling defense.

This act of dissent follows years of futile attempts to encourage the Congressman to hold open, unscripted town meetings accessible to a majority of his constituents.

The Congressman has grown so suspicious of impromptu encounters with ordinary citizens that on Saturday he required a Bend Police Department intervention that enabled him to enter the Water Project meeting at the Chamber of Commerce through the back door.  (Greg, we are nonviolent people who believe that democracy thrives on open dialogue and transparency; there is no reason to avoid us.)

Which is Worse?

The media is awash in stories about some Marines who urinated on a pile of dead Afghans. People the world over and our left wing media are enraged. The Commandant of the Marine Corps has stated that when they find these jarheads they are going to swing. Nope, you cannot pee on a dead guy, but apparently it is perfectly fine to kill him first. I ask you, which is worse?

Given the opportunity, I’d opt for the golden shower over a bullet any time. The Afghans would too, if given a chance, but they are dead. Can it be that political correctness cannot make the distinction. Well yes it can. It is typical of the left.

More People, Less Money, in Politics

Someone once coined the phrase, “We have the best government money can buy.” Sad, but true. Big Money Interests (Corporations, the Wealthy, Labor Unions, Special Interests) have taken over our political process to the detriment of “We the People.” They control our Congress, and until “big money” is taken out of politics we will not have a democratic government. Why do the Big Money interests want to control Congress? So that laws and regulations enacted by both parties will benefit them and their Big Money interests. This ensures continued wealth and power to them. How do the “Big Money Interests” control Congress? They buy out our representatives with campaign contributions. To be fair, not all our representatives are bought out, but who knows how many are? When 94 percent of candidates who raise the most money win elections-something is not right! Who do you think our representatives represent? Big Money Interests or “We the People”?
