While Halloween tends to get all the attention, there's another holiday this week, and that's the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos), a traditional Mexican holiday coinciding with All Saint's Day meant to celebrate deceased ancestors.
Here in Bend, Amalia's restaurant downtown is celebrating the holiday tonight and tomorrow with an outdoor event (under a tent behind the restaurant at 915 NW Wall St, so you'll stay warm) featuring live music from Volifonix, food, beer specials and other cool events...including mock lucha libre wrestling!
The wrestling is tonight from 6 to 7pm and features some actual professional wrestlers, who will don lucha libra masks (like the one seen here) and engage in some mock wrestling moves. If you've never seen this sort of wrestling, you definitely should check out the awesomely cheeky entertainment it provides. But chances are, you saw Nacho Libre and are fully knowledgeable.
Tonight we'll see El Snowflake (signature move: The Cobra Strike) take on Nacho Man (signature move: The Cornholio) and the winner of that match will then face Augustus the Bavarian (picture one this page, signature move: The Flying Caramba). Each match consists of three 2-minute rounds and, of course, will feature some awesome masks.
And, of course, there will be tons of excellent food, including homeade tamales and tijuana hotdogs.
Head over Saturday night in your sexy costume and enter yourself to win cash and prizes. Come on, somebody has to come as Nacho...please!

It is a day of remembrance, honor and prayer for friends and family members (animals too), who have died.
