OK, so last week I wrote a post about how the 4 Peaks Jamboree, featuring Poor Man's Whiskey, was taking place at the West Wind Ranch near Tumalo on Saturday.

So yeah, here's the deal -- the county has decided that the 4 Peaks party, meant to be a fundraiser party of about 150 people to keep the festival going into the future, needs a mass gathering permit in order to proceed. So effectively, the outdoor event, with live music, camping and kids activity, is no longer happening.

BUT the music will go on -- the show has been moved to the Domino Room and will start at 7pm. Tickets are $20, and if you already have a $25 ticket in hand, they will refund $5 at the door.

Poor Man's Whiskey will still headline, but the lineup is shaved down a bit, featuring Wild Rye, Handful of Lovin', and Jay Seals (formerly of Blue Turtle Seduction).

Not surprisingly, 4 Peaks co-organizer Eric Walton said that the group is bummed to have to shift the party to an indoor venue. They're also confused as to why the county thought they needed a mass gathering permit -- something he says is required for events of a much larger scale.

And yeah, that is a bummer. But, here's the thing, the last few times Poor Man's Whiskey has played the Domino Room, it's been pretty damn insane. Yeah, you won't get to lounge in the sun all day and then camp under the stars, but it will be rad nonetheless.

The county commissioners passed a law last year to prevent outdoor concerts in response to complaints from the California-farmers in the area of the party. It seems that the farmers (sic) had their panties all in a wad after one of the concerts in recent years and leaned on the commissioners, who automatically caved to the big tax payers. Once again the people lose and the wealthy get their aesthetics validated. If you want to have unregulated fun, better find another county to do it in. If a crony isn't making money off your fun then it ain't gonna happen.
